Nobody likes being stranded on the side of the road, but car troubles can happen unexpectedly and in the most inappropriate places. The good news is you can always get help in such situations.

Towing companies offer a wide range of services to cater to the specific needs of stranded drivers. One of their most sought-after services is emergency tow truck services.

Here are some possible scenarios that may warrant calling for an emergency tow truck.

After an accident

If you're involved in an auto accident and your car is badly damaged, you'll need to get it hauled away from the accident scene to avoid causing a traffic snarl-up.

As you wait for the tow truck driver to arrive, you should alert the police and collect evidence of the damage for insurance claim processing or any personal injury lawsuits you may wish to file later on.

When your engine stalls

While car engines are built to withstand the demands of daily car operation, they can occasionally stall.

Engine stalling describes a situation in which your engine abruptly stops running, causing the vehicle to stall as if it has died. Several things, including improper ignition, inadequate airflow and fuel deprivation, can trigger this problem.

If your car stalls on the road, call a tow truck to transport it to an auto repair shop where mechanics can diagnose and fix the issue.

When the empty tank light comes on

When your car's fuel tank is almost empty, a dashboard warning light will come on to alert you that it's time to visit the gas station.

If you're familiar with the road you're travelling on and can ascertain that you will fill up before completely running out of gas, you may continue driving on empty. However, if you don't know the location of the nearest gas station, you'll be better off stopping at a safe location and calling for a tow truck.

When you're stuck in bad weather

Aside from increasing the risk of vehicle failure, poor weather conditions put you and other drivers in harm's way. If you don't feel confident driving on wet or icy roads, you may request a tow truck service to move your vehicle to a safer location.

Emergency tow truck services target cars and other vehicles that cannot be safely driven due to mechanical failure, collision damage or dangerous conditions on the road. It's often the last resort for stranded drivers.

Call a towing company near you to get help whenever you're stranded and cannot get back on the road.
